Pheresis Process Technician — Donor Care & Safety

Job summary

CSL is seeking a dedicated technician in Temple, TX to support pheresis procedures. You will prepare donor areas and equipment, set up the autopheresis machine, monitor donors during the pheresis process, and disconnect donors when complete.

You will use a PDA to record incidents, link equipment to donors, and ensure accurate donor data in the information management system, while upholding health, safety and confidentiality standards.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum of three months’ work experience in medical or health provider environment or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Must be able to perform basic math calculations.

Responsibilities

• Prepare donor, donor area and equipment for the pheresis process.
• Prepare the autopheresis machine for the pheresis process.
• Monitor the donor and pheresis process, respond to alarms or signals that may occur during the process.
• Disconnect the donor when the process is complete.
• Maintain alertness and awareness to any donor reactions and notify appropriate staff.
• Record incidents in the PDA, including machine alerts, alarms, and donor events, and link equipment to donors.
• Link equipment and soft goods used in the pheresis process to the appropriate donor in the system.
• Alert Group Leader or Supervisor of donor flow issues.
• Ensure accurate recording of donor data in the electronic donor information management system per SOPs.
• Follow policies for hyper immune programs and promote safety in actions.
• Maintain confidentiality of personnel, donor, and center information.
• May be cross-trained in other areas as needed.
• Bilingual skills may be required as needed.
