Job summary

CSL is seeking a Pheresis Technician to prepare the donor, donor area, and equipment for the pheresis process in a clinical center in Houston. You will also prep the autopheresis machine and monitor the donor and the pheresis process, responding to alarms and ensuring donor safety throughout.

The role requires a high school diploma or equivalent, and a minimum of three months’ experience in a medical or health provider setting, with basic math skills.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum of three (3) months’ work experience, preferably in medical or health provider environment or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Must be able to perform basic math calculations.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for preparing the donor, donor area and equipment for the pheresis process.
• Prepares the autopheresis machine for the pheresis process.
• Monitors the donor and the pheresis process, responds to alarms or signals that may occur.
• Disconnects the donor when the process is complete.
• Maintains alertness and awareness to any donor reaction during or after the pheresis process and notifies staff.
• Records incidents in the PDA for machine alerts, alarms, volume variances and donor adverse events.
• Links equipment and supplies to the appropriate donor in the PDA.
• Alerts Group Leader or Supervisor of donor flow issues.
• Ensures accurate recording of donor data in the electronic donor information management system.
• Follows SOPs and safety policies; may be cross-trained.
• Bilingual skills may be required at organizational discretion.
• Performs job-related duties as assigned.
