Job summary

CSL is seeking a Plasma Collection Specialist to perform venipuncture and monitor the pheresis process in a donor center. You will follow SOPs and FDA guidelines to ensure safe, efficient plasma collection and donor care.

The role requires strong attention to donor safety, accurate data recording, and the ability to educate donors about the process and center policies. California centers require additional phlebotomy or nursing qualifications.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Minimum twelve months experience in a medical or health care environment preferred.
• For CA centers, certified phlebotomy technician or RN license required.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for efficient collection of plasma from donors by venipuncture and monitoring the pheresis process.
• Perform donor setup, monitoring and disconnect in compliance with SOPs.
• Venipuncture on donors to begin pheresis process following FDA guidelines.
• Evaluate donor vein performance and expedite donation while ensuring safety and product quality.
• Educate new donors on plasma products, screening, eligibility, appointment system, and center policies.
• Monitor donors for adverse reactions and assist or notify staff as needed.
• Record incidents and donor data using the electronic donor information management system.
• Perform calibrations and respond to equipment alarms or donor issues as outlined in SOPs.
• Troubleshoot equipment failures and document incidents; replace equipment as needed.
• Monitor donor flow to ensure efficient turnover and communicate any issues to supervisors.
