Pheresis Donor Care Technician

Job summary

CSL in Canton, OH is seeking a dedicated pheresis technician to prepare the donor area and equipment for pheresis procedures and to ready the autopheresis machine. You will monitor the donor throughout the process, respond to alarms, and disconnect the donor when complete.

You will document incidents using a PDA, link equipment to donors, and ensure accurate donor data in the electronic system per SOPs. The role requires adherence to HSE/OSHA policies, confidentiality, and may involve

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum of three (3) months’ work experience, preferably in medical or health provider environment or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Must be able to perform basic math calculations.

Responsibilities

• Prepare the donor, donor area and equipment for the pheresis process.
• Prepare the autopheresis machine for the pheresis process.
• Monitor the donor and the pheresis process, respond to alarms or signals during the process.
• Disconnect the donor when the process is complete.
• Maintain alertness to any reaction donor may have during or after pheresis and notify appropriate staff.
• Record incidents on a PDA, including machine alerts, alarms, volume variances and donor adverse events.
• Link equipment and soft goods used in the pheresis process to the appropriate donor in the PDA/system.
• Alert Group Leader or Supervisor of donor flow issues and ensure accurate donor data in the system per SOPs.
• Maintain a clean, efficient work environment and ensure sufficient supplies; follow HSE/OSHA policies; promote safety.
• Maintain confidentiality of all personnel, donor and center information.
• May be cross-trained in other areas; bilingual skills may be required.
