Pheresis Donor Care Technician

Job summary

CSL is seeking a donor center technician to prepare the donor, donor area, and equipment for pheresis and to monitor donors throughout the procedure. You will set up the autopheresis machine, respond to alarms, and ensure donor safety and accurate data recording in the donor information system.

The role includes using a PDA to track incidents, maintain supplies, follow SOPs, and potentially work across areas as needed. Strong math skills and a medical environment background are preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum of three (3) months’ work experience, preferably in medical or health provider environment or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Must be able to perform basic math calculations.

Responsibilities

• Prepare the donor, donor area and equipment for the pheresis process.
• Prepare the autopheresis machine for the pheresis process.
• Monitor the donor and pheresis process; respond to alarms or signals.
• Disconnect the donor when the process is complete.
• Maintain alertness to any donor reactions and notify appropriate staff.
• Record incidents using PDA during pheresis (alarms, variances, adverse events).
• Link equipment and supplies used in the pheresis process to the appropriate donor in the PDA.
• Alert Group Leader or Supervisor of donor flow issues.
• Ensure accurate recording of donor data in the electronic donor information system per SOPs.
• Follow Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) and OSHA policies; promote safety.
• Maintain confidentiality of all personnel, donor and center information.
• May be cross-trained in other areas.
• Bilingual skills may be required.
• Perform job-related duties as assigned.
