Job summary

EPRI is offering a remote Fall 2026 student internship for a PhD-level power systems candidate to support R&D on grid modeling and stability analysis with inverter-based renewables.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2 years of PhD studies in Electrical Engineering focusing on Power systems.
  • Ideal candidate is a PhD student with emphasis on power systems and strong writing/presentation skills.

Responsibilities

  • Run dynamic simulations in PSSE/PSLF and device models (e.g., IBRs, large loads).
  • Run PSCAD simulations and analyze inverter-based resource controls and their impact on the grid.
  • Apply knowledge of control theory to analyze and interpret transient and electromechanical dynamics.
