Job summary

NLR, located in Golden, Colorado, invites undergrad and graduate students to a 3–12 month remote internship focused on Power System/Power Electronics Modeling. You will work on dynamic modeling of inverter-based resources at the Power Systems Engineering Center, validating models using EMT tools.

Ideal candidates have knowledge of stability analysis, control theory, and experience with PSCAD, MATLAB/Simulink, Python, and related tools. This is a fixed-term internship with a 40-hour week.

Qualifications

• GPA 3.0 minimum and full-time student status in related field.
• Experience with EMT tools and power system modeling.
• Ability to present technical results to stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical analysis related to power electronics and renewables.
• Build EMT simulations and validate power system models.
• Integrate, test, and use black-box PSCAD models for devices.
• Evaluate impact of inverter-based resources on grids.
• Write and publish results in journals and reports.
