Job summary

West Virginia University is seeking a Pharmacy Technician Trainee within Pharmaceutical Systems & Policy. Trainees enroll in the WVU Pharmacy Technician Education Program and complete a 6–8 week self-paced course to gain foundational skills for the state exam.

Upon certification, you will assist with information requests, prior authorizations, and support for providers enrolled in Medicaid programs while WVU emphasizes work-life balance and comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 0-6 months pharmacy tech experience preferred.
• All qualifications must be met by employment start.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the initial and main point of contact for healthcare providers.
• Provide excellent customer service through interaction with pharmacies and other healthcare providers.
• Communicate clearly over phone, fax, or email in a professional manner.
• Evaluate requests using guidelines and enter approved requests; complex cases referred to pharmacist.
• Research provider inquiries using available resources.
• Perform callbacks to providers’ inquiries when necessary.
• Document all communications in the appropriate database.
• Assist Program Director/Pharmacist with administrative details and materials.
