Job summary

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Must possess current licensure as required by state board where services will be provided.
• Nationally Certified Pharmacy Technician preferred or obtained within 15 months of hire if experience is present.

Responsibilities

• Draft letters and correspondence to referral sources as needed.
• Gather and document patient demographics, insurance info, history, and needs assessment.
• Initiate refills and schedule delivery for prescriptions.
• Provide information to patients and refer questions to clinicians when appropriate.
• Identify patients requiring pre-certification or pre-authorization.
• Contact insurers to determine eligibility and benefits.
• Maintain complete patient records.
• Assist pharmacist with filling and labeling prescriptions.
• Calculate initial measurements for compounds and maintain logs.
• Provide medication guides with each prescription.
• Maintain proper storage and handling of medications.
• Communicate age-appropriate education to patients.
• Collaborate with coordinators to meet quarterly objectives.
• Maintain confidentiality of patient information.
• Assist in training pharmacy technicians.
• Estimate anticipated charges, including self-pay portions.
• Adhere to state/federal restrictions on technician duties.

Education

Associates degree or post high school science education

Graduate of pharmacy technician training program

PTCB or NHA certification upon hire

State licensure as Pharmacy Technician per residence state
