Giant Eagle, Inc. is seeking a Pharmacy Technician Trainee to join our collaborative team. You’ll help build a service‑oriented pharmacy that forms strong relationships with patients and supports safe, accurate care.

This role supports the pharmacy team in processing orders, assisting customers, and upholding HIPAA and regulatory requirements. High school diploma required; eligibility to obtain pharmacy technician registration; 0–6 months experience preferred.

Qualifications

• Experience required: 0 to 6 months.
• Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
• Certification: Eligible to obtain registration as pharmacy technician with the applicable state board of pharmacy.
• Lifting: Up to 25 pounds.
• Age: At least 18 years of age.

Responsibilities

• Welcome patients with compassion at all pharmacy entry points.
• Model excellent patient care by addressing prescriptions and OTC questions, in person or by phone.
• Maintain a neat, compliant work environment to meet company and government requirements.
• Assist team members to keep the department running efficiently.
• Use the pharmacy computer to process actions, manage inventories, and generate labels.
• Support improvement plans using service and business metrics knowledge.
• Complete required training and accompanying exams.
• Follow all policies and regulations, including HIPAA and Pseudoephedrine rules.
• Finalize sales at the POS according to procedures.
• Transcribe prescription data to generate customer labels.
• Maintain proper inventory levels by ordering, receiving, stocking and rotating drugs and supplies.
• Answer phones politely and ensure accurate information is given.
• Resolve customer questions by communicating with customers and staff.
• File written prescriptions daily.
