Job description

Under the direct supervision of pharmacists, this position is responsible for performing all functions of a Pharmacy Technician I when required, as well as assisting pharmacists with data collection and entry of patient demographics, answering phones, checking in and stocking medications. The technician also checks expiration dates, operates the cash register, runs reports, checks voice messages on the refill line, and performs other duties as assigned by the Pharmacy Manager. Maintaining excellent customer service at all times is essential.

Experience in pharmacy or related field is preferred.

License & Certification

Registered Pharmacy Technician with the Georgia Board of Pharmacy - Required

Core Job Functions

• Fill prescriptions accurately with correct medications, placing filled prescriptions next to the written prescription for pharmacist review. Bubble-pack SOURCE/nursing home medications correctly as needed.
• Enter patient data accurately into QS/1 system. Review prescriptions for dates greater than 2 weeks, return outdated medication to stock, and reverse transactions as necessary. Dispose of labels properly.
• Process customer payments accurately, accepting cash, check, credit card, or payroll deduction. Provide correct change and close out the register properly at the end of each shift.
• Identify and restock outdated medications, return excess stock to the wholesaler for credit, and maintain a neat and orderly pharmacy environment.
• Greet customers courteously upon entry, address issues promptly, and ensure respectful communication both in person and via telephone.
