Job Details

The Retail Pharmacy Technician obtains new patient's clinical and prescription plan coverage information, reviews new prescriptions, and/or prescription. This position is categorized as compliance critical and, as such, requires and is assigned specific responsibility for ensuring continual and proper compliance with all division, corporate, and regulatory requirements.

Location: Erie County Health Department - Sandusky, Ohio

Hours: Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm

Responsibilities:

1. Create a patient profile in the pharmacy information system.
2. Enter necessary prescription plan information in the patient profile for processing and adjudicating prescriptions.
3. Enter all new patient prescription information into the pharmacy information system.
4. Address insurance, reimbursement, and payment issues by communicating with insurance providers, patients, and pharmacists. Participate in achieving business goals and metrics for the Ambulatory Pharmacy.
5. Retrieve and prepare medication for pharmacist review and verification. Prepare inventory reports for pharmacist review to purchase.
6. Submit, receive, and stock inventory.
7. Answer inbound calls and triage calls appropriately.
8. Review and handle all adjudicated prescription claims to ensure proper reimbursement, co-pay, and financials; follow up on inappropriate claims.
9. Assist Pharmacist with therapeutic consults by providing required patient information.
10. Resolve plan and patient-specific adjudication issues with Pharmacy Benefit Manager Companies.
11. Monitor ambulatory dispensing robotic technology.
12. Participate in delivering medications and supplies to patients as per the concierge prescription program. Perform related duties as assigned.

Education:

Minimum of two years of directly related ambulatory pharmacy experience; bachelor's degree preferred. Pharmacy technician certification from a national organization such as PTCB or equivalent is required. State certification acceptable if competencies meet or exceed national standards.
