Job Details

The Retail Pharmacy Technician obtains new patients' clinical and prescription plan coverage information, reviews new prescriptions, and/or prescription details. This position is compliance-critical and requires specific responsibility for ensuring continual and proper compliance with all division, corporate, and regulatory requirements.

Location: Erie County Health Department - Cleveland, Ohio

Hours: Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm

Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for creating a patient profile in the pharmacy information system.
  • Enters necessary prescription plan information in the patient profile for processing and adjudicating prescriptions.
  • Responsible for entering all new patient prescription information into the pharmacy information system.
  • Addresses insurance, reimbursement, and payment issues by communicating with insurance providers, patients, and pharmacists. Participates in achieving business goals and metrics for the Ambulatory Pharmacy.
  • Retrieves and prepares medication for pharmacist review and verification. Prepares inventory reports for pharmacist review to purchase.
  • Submits, receives, and stocks inventory.
  • Answers inbound calls and triages them appropriately.
  • Assists with reviewing and handling all adjudicated prescription claims to ensure proper reimbursement and follow-up on inappropriate claims.
  • Provides required information for therapeutic consults with patients.
  • Intervenes with Pharmacy Benefit Manager Companies to resolve plan and patient-specific adjudication issues.
  • Monitors ambulatory dispensing robotic technology.
  • Participates in delivering medications and supplies to patients as per the concierge prescription program. Performs related duties as assigned.
Education:

Typically requires at least two years of related ambulatory pharmacy experience; a bachelor's degree is preferred. Certification from a national organization such as PTCB is required. State certification is acceptable if equivalent to national standards.
