Job Details

The Retail Pharmacy Technician obtains new patient’s clinical and prescription plan coverage information, reviews new prescriptions, and/or prescription data. This position is compliance-critical and requires responsibility for ensuring continual adherence to all division, corporate, and regulatory requirements.

Location: Erie County Health Department - Cleveland, Ohio

Hours: Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm

Responsibilities:

1. Responsible for creating a patient profile in the pharmacy information system.
2. Enters necessary prescription plan information in the patient profile for processing and adjudicating patient prescriptions.
3. Responsible for entering all new patient prescription information into the pharmacy information system.
4. Addresses insurance, reimbursement, and payment issues by communicating with insurance providers, patients, and pharmacists. Participates in achieving business goals and metrics for the Ambulatory Pharmacy.
5. Retrieves and prepares medication for pharmacist review and verification. Prepares inventory reports for pharmacist review to purchase.
6. Submits, receives, and stocks inventory.
7. Answers inbound calls and triages them appropriately.
8. Assists with reviews and handling of adjudicated prescription claims to ensure proper reimbursement and follow-up on inappropriate claims.
9. Provides required information for therapeutic consults with patients.
10. Resolves plan and patient-specific adjudication issues with Pharmacy Benefit Manager Companies.
11. Sponsors and monitors ambulatory dispensing robotic technology.
12. Participates in delivering medications and supplies to patients as part of the concierge prescription program. Performs related duties as assigned.

Education:

Typically requires at least two (2) years of responsible ambulatory pharmacy experience; a bachelor's degree is preferred. Certification from a national organization such as the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) or equivalent is required. State certification is acceptable if competencies meet or exceed national standards.
