Job Details

The Retail Pharmacy Technician obtains new patient's clinical and prescription plan coverage information, reviews new prescriptions, and/or prescription details. This position is categorized as compliance critical and, as such, requires specific responsibility for ensuring continual and proper compliance with all division, corporate, and regulatory requirements.

Location: Erie County Health Department- Cleveland, Ohio

Hours: Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm

Responsibilities:
  1. Responsible for creating a patient profile in the pharmacy information system.
  2. Enters necessary prescription plan information in the patient profile for processing and adjudicating patient's prescriptions.
  3. Responsible for entering all new patient prescription information into the pharmacy information system.
  4. Addresses insurance, reimbursement, and payment issues as appropriate by communicating with insurance providers, patients, and pharmacists. Participates in achieving business goals and metrics for the Ambulatory Pharmacy.
  5. Retrieves and prepares the medication for pharmacist review and verification. Prepares inventory reports for pharmacist review to purchase.
  6. Submits, receives, and places inventory in stock.
  7. Answers inbound telephone calls and triages calls as appropriate based on the nature of the call to the appropriate staff.
  8. Assists with the reviews and handling of all adjudicated prescription claims to ensure appropriateness of reimbursement, co-pay, and related financials and, if needed, as directed, follows up on all such claims deemed inappropriate.
  9. Assists Pharmacist by providing required information for therapeutic consults with patients.
  10. Intervenes with Pharmacy Benefit Manager Companies to resolve plan and patient-specific adjudication issues.
  11. Supply and monitor ambulatory dispensing robotic technology.
  12. Actively participates by delivering medications and pharmaceutical supplies to patients as outlined by the concierge prescription program. Performs related duties as assigned.
Education:

Normally requires a minimum of two (2) years of directly related and progressively responsible ambulatory pharmacy experience; a bachelor's degree is preferred. Pharmacy technician certification with a national technical certification organization, such as Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB), or other comparable national certification is required. State pharmacy certification is acceptable if core competencies meet or exceed national certification requirements.
