Job summary

Hy-Vee is seeking a Pharmac y Technician, Non-Certified, to support pharmacists in processing prescriptions, handling insurance billing, and inventory in a fast-paced retail pharmacy. You will gain hands-on experience while preparing medications, labeling, and assisting with vaccines as allowed by law.

This hourly role requires a high school diploma and ongoing progress toward national technician certification.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Working toward licensed technician certification through a certified national program required.
• Previous experience as a pharmacy clerk preferred.
• Vaccination certification required if administering vaccines, as required by law.

Responsibilities

• Provide prompt, friendly customer service by greeting customers and making interactions positive.
• Handle customer inquiries not requiring pharmacist expertise.
• Accept new written prescription orders and telephoned refill requests under supervision.
• Contact doctors' offices to request refills as needed.
• Gather and maintain accurate patient information for prescriptions.
• Assist pharmacists in preparing prescription drug products for dispensing.
• Prepare and affix labels and prepare prescriptions to be mailed.
• Submit insurance claims and assist with third‑party billing.
• File prescriptions after dispensing and report medication errors.
• Stock and log pharmacy supplies; perform cash transactions accurately.
• Administer vaccines as allowed by law, with required certification where applicable.
• Maintain HIPAA confidentiality and store cleanliness of pharmacy area.
