Job summary

Ascension seeks a Pharmacy Technician for the Day shift in a remote-capable role within Ascension Pharmacy Services. Location primary is Austin, TX, with remote work options where allowed. The role supports the pharmacy team with compounding, dispensing, immunizations where permitted, and patient education.

You will maintain automated dispensing, manage inventory, and liaise with patients and healthcare providers. Strong regulatory knowledge and commitment to access programs are essential.

Qualifications

• Pharmacy tech credentialed from the National Healthcareer Association (NHA) or Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) before hire date.
• High School diploma or equivalent required; 1 year of related experience acceptable in lieu.
• State licensure in the supported state is required.

Responsibilities

• Performs specialized duties such as hazardous drug compounding, medication history, nuclear, and PAP support as a technician.
• Refills and maintains automated dispensing system; prepares orders and maintains inventory.
• Serves as liaison between pharmacy, patient and health professionals; communicates with external resources.
• Identifies and assists with patient medication access including benefit investigation and prior authorization.
• Assists Pharmacist in preparation of patient education materials.
• May administer immunizations where state laws permit.
• Monitors regulatory compliance and may manage inventory and drug shortages.

How you’ll make an impact in this role

• Performs specialized duties such as hazardous drug compounding, medication history, nuclear, and Patient Assistance Program (PAP) as a pharmacy technician.
• Refills and maintains automated dispensing system. Prepares orders, maintains inventory, and repackages bulk medications. Receives and stores incoming supplies.
• Serves as a liaison between pharmacy, patient and health professionals by providing necessary information. Communicates with external resources such as retail pharmacies, provider officers, and data exchanges.
• Identifies and assists with patient medication access including, benefit investigation, prior authorization, and financial assistance.
• Assists Pharmacist in preparation of patient education materials.
• May give immunizations in accordance with state laws.
• May serve as pharmacist extender in situations such as Caregiver Model of the Future responsibilities. May monitor compliance with regulatory standards and be responsible for inventory and drug shortage management and optimization.

What Minimum Requirements You’ll Need

Licensure / Certification / Registration

• Required Credential(s):
• • One or more of the following:
  • Pharmacy Tech credentialed from the National Healthcareer Association obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.
  • Pharmacy Tech credentialed from the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.

Education

• High School diploma equivalency OR 1 year of applicable cumulative job specific experience required. *Note: Required professional licensure/certification can be used in lieu of education or experience, if applicable.

Additional Preferences

• 1+ year experience of high-level of PAP, Grant and Foundation experience required.
• 1+ year experience of high-level PA, PBM, FA experience required.
• State Licensure in the Supported State.
