Job summary

Kroger is seeking a Staff Pharmacist at our Blacksburg, VA location to lead clinical and operational pharmacy activities. You will manage budgets, training, and customer service while ensuring regulatory compliance and high patient care.

Responsibilities include supervising staff, optimizing inventory, collaborating with physicians, and supporting public health initiatives. Travel may be required; strong leadership and a valid pharmacist license are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree Pharmacy and/or Doctor of Pharmacy Degree (Pharm.D.) from an accredited U.S. School of Pharmacy
• 2+ years retail experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Minimum 21 years of age
• Participation in clinical programs following company sponsored training
• Ability and willingness to continue education
• Ability to preserve confidentiality of information
• Commitment to providing excellent customer service
• Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
• Ability to read and interpret prescriptions and documents
• Proven leadership skills
• License must be in good standing

Responsibilities

• Perform all functions of a staff pharmacist and model for the team; handle complaints and direct workflow to reduce wait times
• Develop, implement, supervise, and promote the sales plan and other sales initiatives
• Perform duties of a registered pharmacist and comply with legal and company requirements
• Direct the pharmacy team to meet warehouse utilization, inventory and labor goals
• Comply with mandated controlled substances operating procedures
• Monitor third-party profitability; handle third-party problems, rejections, and audits
• Schedule staff to control labor costs
• Maintain all pharmacy records required by laws and policies
• Direct pharmacy to meet budgeted labor, volume, inventory and sales goals
• Perform detailing visiting local physicians and community targets
• Promote, implement, and participate in public health initiatives and disease state management
• Travel independently as needed to support business needs
• Supervise and coach direct reports; complete performance reviews
