Job summary

Sentara Norfolk General Hospital in Norfolk, VA seeks a PRN/Flexi Clinical Pharmacist Intern for the Inpatient Pharmacy. Location: Norfolk General Hospital, Norfolk, VA. Status: Flexi/PRN.

Shift: Rotating (10 hour Weekend Shift). Hours: 6am-11pm, with occasional overnights; weekends one per month. The role supports safe, effective and cost-efficient drug therapy, assists in drug distribution, and serves as a drug information resource under supervision.

Qualifications

  • Active pharmacy intern license or newly graduated pharmacist eligible for Virginia intern license.
  • Virginia or North Carolina license within 90 days of start date.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare medications under the direction of a pharmacist.
  • Manage patient drug therapy under medical staff-approved standards.
  • Serve as primary resource for drug information and verify orders.
  • Remote project work once fully trained onsite in IV room with sterile compounding.

Overview

Sentara Norfolk General Hospital is hiring a PRN/Flexi Clinical Pharmacist Intern for the Inpatient Pharmacy in Norfolk, VA. Location: Norfolk General Hospital, Norfolk, VA. Status: Flexi/PRN. Shift: Rotating (10 hour Weekend Shift). Hours: 6am-11pm (occasional overnights). Weekends: One Weekend a Month.

Responsibilities

The Clinical Pharmacist Intern is responsible for managing the drug distribution system and providing technical support in all aspects of the delivery of safe, effective, patient-focused, and cost-efficient drug therapy.

  • Prepare medications under the direction of a pharmacist.
  • Manages patient drug therapy in accordance with the medical staff-approved clinical practice standards under the direction of a pharmacist.
  • Serves as the primary resource for drug information within the hospital and assures the appropriateness of all physician medication orders under the direction of a pharmacist.
  • Remote project work once fully trained onsite in IV room with sterile compounding.
Education

Will consider pharmacy students with an active intern license or newly graduated pharmacists eligible to obtain Virginia state Pharmacy Intern license.

Certification/Licensure

Must have Virginia or North Carolina (applicable to location) license within 90 days of Sentara start date.
