Job summary

Johns Hopkins Medicine is seeking a PharmacistCoordinator to support safe, effective medication use for patients and care teams. The role includes in-person and telephonic patient care, with a strong emphasis on education and interprofessional collaboration within outpatient pharmacies.

The position requires a Maryland pharmacist license, a PharmD degree, and one year of direct patient care experience. ASHP residency is preferred but not mandatory; CPR certification is required.

Qualifications

  • Graduation from an accredited College of Pharmacy resulting in a Doctor of Pharmacy degree or equivalent two years of experience.
  • Completion of an ASHP-accredited residency program preferred but not required
  • State of Maryland pharmacist license required
  • Advanced certification in the area of practice preferred (e.g. BCPS, BCACP, AAHIVP, CSP) but not required
  • Certified by the Maryland Board of Pharmacy to provide vaccinations, preferably upon hire, and required within six months of employment
  • Active CPR certification
  • Minimum one year direct patient care experience as a pharmacist required

Responsibilities

  • Promote the safe and effective use of medications; patient care conducted over the telephone and in person.
  • Identify and address the educational needs of staff, patients, caregivers, students, residents and healthcare team members.
  • Lead precepting of interns, students and residents; assist with coordination of learning initiatives in outpatient pharmacies.
  • Interpret, dispense, and verify medications ordered by physicians or other authorized prescribers.

Reporting to the Clinical Programs Manager, the PharmacistCoordinatoris responsible for working collaboratively with the patient care team to promote the safe and effective use of medications. Patient care is provided over the telephone and in person. The Clinical Coordinator identifies and addresses the educational needs of staff, patients, caregivers, students, residents, and healthcare team members. The Clinical Coordinator also takes a leading role in precepting interns, students, and residents and assists with the coordination of learning initiatives in the outpatient pharmacies. Operational duties depend on the specific role, but may include interpreting, dispensing, and verifying medications ordered by physicians or other authorized prescribers.
