Job summary

Frye Regional Medical Center is seeking a Pharmacist to join our acute hospital team. You will coordinate pharmaceutical care and work as part of an interdisciplinary team to optimize medication therapy.

Responsibilities include reviewing medication orders, providing drug information to staff and patients, and documenting interventions to support quality improvement. A North Carolina pharmacy license and a Doctoral degree are preferred; a bachelor’s degree is required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required; NC Pharmacy License.
  • Doctoral degree preferred for clinical pharmacy practice.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinates and provides pharmaceutical care of patients.
  • Reviews, interprets and evaluates medication orders.
  • Provides drug information to medical staff, patients, and students.
  • Documents interventions for quality improvement.
  • Ensures accuracy of medication orders prior to entry and after filling.

Schedule: 10pm-8am, (Monday - Sunday) 7 on 7 off schedule

Position Summary

Coordinates and provides the pharmaceutical care of patients.

Essential Functions:
  • Manages drug therapy protocols as a part of an interdisciplinary team.
  • Reviews, interprets and evaluates medication orders to identify, prevent and resolve potential or actual drug related problems.
  • Provides drug information and education to medical staff, healthcare professionals, and patients, and pharmacy students.
  • Documents interventions and their outcomes for use in drug therapy quality improvement efforts.
  • Evaluates medication orders for accuracy and completeness prior to order entry. Checks for accuracy after filling by technicians.
Required Skills:

Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.

Education / Certification
  • Education: Bachelor's Degree Required; Doctoral Degree Preferred.
  • Licenses: Pharmacy License in the state of North Carolina.
