Job summary

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree required; Doctoral Degree preferred.
  • Licensure: North Carolina Pharmacy License.
  • Hospital pharmacy experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinates and provides pharmaceutical care as part of an interdisciplinary team.
  • Reviews and interprets medication orders to identify and resolve drug-related problems.
  • Educates medical staff, patients and pharmacy students about medications and therapy.
  • Documents interventions and outcomes for drug therapy quality improvement.
  • Verifies medication orders for accuracy before and after dispensing by technicians.

Position Summary

Coordinates and provides the pharmaceutical care of patients.

Essential Functions
  • Manages drug therapy protocols as a part of an interdisciplinary team.
  • Reviews, interprets and evaluates medication orders to identify, prevent and resolve potential or actual drug related problems.
  • Provides drug information and education to medical staff, healthcare professionals, and patients, and pharmacy students.
  • Documents interventions and their outcomes for use in drug therapy quality improvement efforts.
  • Evaluates medication orders for accuracy and completeness prior to order entry. Checks for accuracy after filling by technicians.
Required Skills

Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.

Education / Certification
  • Education: Bachelor's Degree Required; Doctoral Degree Preferred
  • Licenses: Pharmacy License in the state of North Carolina
