Job summary

MSD is seeking a Scientist/Engineer based in Rahway, NJ (or West Point, PA) to drive pharmaceutical process development and technology transfer for small molecule solid dosage products. The role emphasizes hands-on development from pilot to commercial scale, collaboration with R&D, analytical, regulatory and operations teams, and a commitment to continuous learning.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree and two years related experience or master’s degree and one year related experience in Chemical/Biochemical Engineering, Materials Science/Engineering, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or related discipline.
Proven ability to work independently and in a team with commitment and strong communication.

Responsibilities

Plan, conduct, and interpret pharmaceutical process development studies including scale up, tech transfer, design space development, batch manufacture, and process validation.
Participate in drug product working groups and cross-functional interactions.
Apply Quality by Design concepts, risk-based development, DOE, and process modeling.
Author protocols, reports, and regulatory filings; demonstrate strong written and oral communication.
Evaluate new technologies, perform data analyses, and ensure compliance with safety and cGMP.
