Job summary

Merck & Co., Inc. in Rahway, NJ, seeks a Senior Engineer for the Pharmaceutical Commercialization Technology group to advance process development for small molecule solid dosage products.

You will lead scale-up, technology transfer, and design space studies across internal sites and contract manufacturers. The role requires hands-on lab/manufacturing experience, DOE implementation, and strong collaboration with cross-functional teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree with 6+ years, Master's with 4+ years, or PhD in Chemical/Biochemical Engineering or related field.
• Experience designing and executing experimental programs with mechanistic understanding and DOE.
• Experience with process scale-up/tech transfer and cross-functional collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Plan, conduct, and interpret pharmaceutical process development studies including scale-up and technology transfer.
• Lead cross-functional teams and represent department in interactions.
• Apply quality by design, risk-based approaches, DOE, and process modeling.
• Author technical documents such as protocols, reports, and regulatory filings.
• Demonstrate strong communication and collaboration with commercial sites and vendors.
• Evaluate new technologies and perform data analysis in compliance with safety and GMP.
• Contribute to publications and presentations and advance digital analytics capabilities.
