Job summary

MSD Malaysia in Rahway, NJ is seeking a Senior Engineer in the Pharmaceutical Commercialization Technology (PCT) department to advance small molecule solid dosage process development from pilot to commercial scale. The role collaborates across R&D, analytical, regulatory, quality, packaging, and operations to deliver robust processes.

The ideal candidate has a Bachelor’s degree with 6+ years’ related experience (or advanced degrees) in Chemical/Biochemical Engineering or Pharmaceutical Sciences,

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree with 6+ years of related experience, or Master’s with 4+ years, or PhD.
• Experience designing and executing experimental programs with mechanistic understanding.
• Familiarity with scale-up, technology transfer, and process validation concepts.
• Knowledge of cGMP guidelines in pharmaceutical development.

Responsibilities

• Plan, conduct, and interpret pharmaceutical process development studies (scale-up, tech transfer, design space).
• Lead drug product working groups and represent the department in cross-functional interactions.
• Apply QbD concepts, risk-based approaches, and advanced data analytics.
• Author technical documents, protocols, reports, and regulatory filings.
• Demonstrate strong oral and written communication and lead collaboration with sites and vendors.
• Evaluate new technologies, perform data analysis, and ensure safety and GMP compliance.
• Contribute to publications and presentations and advance digital/data analytics capabilities.
• Advance innovation in process development from pilot to commercial scale.
