Job summary

Merck & Co. in Rahway, NJ, is seeking a Senior Scientist, Engineering to advance pharmaceutical process development from pilot to commercial scale. You will work with R&D, analytical, regulatory, quality, and operations to implement robust processes.

You will apply QbD concepts, perform design of experiments, and collaborate with internal sites and contract manufacturers to transfer technology and scale processes for small molecule products.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree with relevant experience in chemical/biochemical engineering or pharmaceutical sciences.
• Strong understanding of DOE, qbd and process development principles.
• Experience with scale-up, tech transfer and regulatory documentation.

Responsibilities

• Plan, conduct, and interpret pharmaceutical process development studies including scale-up and validation.
• Lead drug product working groups and collaborate across cross-functional teams.
• Apply Quality by Design, risk-based development and process modeling.
• Author protocols, reports, and regulatory filings with clear documentation.
• Collaborate with commercial sites and third-party vendors on technology transfer.
