Job summary

Petco in California is seeking a Pet Stylist to deliver expert grooming services for dogs and cats, ensuring they look and feel their best. You will handle bathing, brushing, styling and nail care while prioritizing animal welfare and customer satisfaction.

You’ll use a range of grooming tools and equipment, maintain a clean salon, and collaborate with the grooming team to meet high standards. Weekend and evening availability is often required.

Qualifications

• Must have completed Pet Stylist Apprentice program or equivalent grooming training.
• High-school diploma or GED preferred.
• Ability to work under guidance from Grooming Salon Leader or store management when necessary.

Responsibilities

• Perform professional grooming services including bathing, drying, brushing, haircuts and styling, nail trimming, ear cleaning, and gland cleaning.
• Operate and maintain grooming instruments, clippers, blades, shears, brushes, and dryers.
• Prioritize the safety and well-being of every animal in the salon and report concerns promptly.
• Evaluate coat type, skin conditions, and temperament to determine grooming plan.
• Interact professionally with pet parents and provide grooming recommendations and home-care guidance.
• Maintain a clean, sanitized grooming area and adhere to Petco hygiene policies.
• Train or supervise entry-level trainees in the absence of a Grooming Salon Leader.
