Petco in California (San Marcos) is seeking a Pet Stylist to provide professional grooming services for pets, ensuring high standards of care and customer satisfaction. You will handle bathing, drying, trimming, and styling while managing grooming tools and maintaining salon cleanliness.

Successful candidates bring grooming training or apprenticeship completion, a passion for animals, and flexible availability including weekends/holidays.

Qualifications

• Successful completion of the Pet Stylist Apprentice program or a professional grooming training program.
• High-school diploma or GED preferred, though not required.
• Latitude for independent judgement and problem solving in grooming scenarios.

Responsibilities

• Perform professional grooming: bathing, drying, brushing, haircuts, nail trimming, ear cleaning, and gland cleaning per instructions and breed standards.
• Operate and maintain grooming instruments (clippers, blades, shears, brushes, dryers).
• Prioritize pet safety and well being; report concerns to pet owners and management.
• Interact professionally with pet parents, provide grooming recommendations, and address inquiries.
• Maintain a clean, safe grooming area and sanitize tools per policy.
• Assist and supervise trainees when Grooming Salon Leader is unavailable.
