Job summary

Banfield Pet Hospital in Cincinnati seeks a Pet Care Assistant to work with the veterinary team to provide and prepare for the best medical care of pets. You’ll ensure a welcoming, efficient environment, assist with examinations, vaccines, and lab work, and educate clients on preventive care.

The role requires a high school diploma (18+), strong English communication, and the ability to multi-task. Weekend/evening hours may be required, with opportunities for growth within Banfield.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma preferred.
• One year of related experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Live and exemplify the Five Principles of Mars, Inc. within self and team.
• Prepare the treatment room for examination of pets and all necessary medical item and supplies for the veterinarian and/or veterinary technician.
• Maintain the flow of the Cycle of Service in accordance with position and provide client education on preventive care and wellness.
• Hold or restrain pets during examination, treatment, or inoculation.
• Prepare routine in-house laboratory tests as allowed by state rules and regulations.
• Monitor the comfort of hospitalized patients and help with feeding, exercise, and cleaning.
• Bathe and dip pets when necessary to treat dermatological conditions.
• Clean the surgical suite and instruments.
• Ensure hospital cleanliness including housekeeping tasks as outlined by protocols.
• Other duties as assigned.
