Job summary

YMCA of Greater Brandywine in Pennsylvania is seeking a dedicated personal trainer to deliver individual sessions and fitness assessments to members. You’ll conduct sessions, screen clients, and ensure safe, effective training in a welcoming, professional environment.

You’ll communicate with clients, maintain schedules, and participate in events. A current personal training certification is required, with a preference for candidates pursuing a degree in exercise science.

Qualifications

• Must hold a current personal training certification listed on the NCCA/ICE site.
• Knowledge of basic and advanced exercise principles.
• Willingness to pursue a bachelor's degree in exercise science or health-related field.

Responsibilities

• Conduct personal training sessions and fitness assessments as scheduled.
• Communicate with current and potential clients in a timely fashion.
• Follow guidelines for screening personal training clients.
• Report to scheduled sessions on time and provide assistance.
• Ensure proper exercise techniques are used by all members.
• Report mechanical or breakdown problems to supervisor and document on maintenance logbook.
• Encourage members to wipe down equipment after use during orientation and training sessions.
• Promote a healthy lifestyle.
• Participate in special events and open houses throughout the year.
• Ensure compliance with all policies and standard operating procedures.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
