Job summary

Jonus Group is seeking an experienced Personal Lines Production Binding Underwriter in the Charlotte area to drive new business production and grow a book from the ground up. The role emphasizes strong marketing capabilities, sales results, and a fast-paced, goal-oriented environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience.
• Minimum of 3 years of multi-line underwriting experience (E&S experience preferred).
• Active insurance license required; CPCU, CIC, or similar designations preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute marketing strategies to drive new business and renewals, including in-person visits, telemarketing, and targeted campaigns.
• Evaluate, classify, and rate risks to determine acceptability, coverage terms, and pricing.
• Submit underwriting referrals to brokerage facilities and internal leadership as needed.
• Monitor key performance metrics (hit ratio, retention, premium growth, loss ratio) and implement corrective actions when necessary.
• Mentor and train Assistant Underwriters to support team development.

Compensation Package

• Base Salary: $80,000 – $105,000 (up to $115,000+ for candidates with a significant book of business and strong relationships)
• Bonus Structure: Commission eligibility begins once revenue generation reaches 2x the base salary and covers support staff costs.
