Job summary

Monarch Healthcare in North Carolina is seeking a Developmental Specialist to support individuals with mental health needs and developmental disabilities. You will help clients pursue personal goals, build community connections, and participate in daily activities with an emphasis on safety and advocacy.

The role involves assessing needs, documenting progress, driving as needed, and supporting staff with training and orientation.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma required.
• Valid Driver's License required (USA).
• Experience working with individuals with mental health diagnoses or developmental disabilities or substance use disorders preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assess individuals for hopes, dreams, and goals and provide supports to help them achieve them.
• Help individuals build relationships in their community and with natural supports.
• Support full participation in community activities aligned with the person’s interests.
• Promote rights, advocate for individuals, and develop advocacy skills.
• Provide emotional, physical, and medical support as needed.
• Maintain person-centered, positive relationships and document progress and outcomes.
• Complete documentation including goals, incident reports, timesheets, and progress notes.
• Assist with daily living activities and home operation (housekeeping, meals, laundry, shopping, errands).
• Provide transportation as required and assist with emergency procedures and safety.
• Support orientation, mentoring, training of staff; participate in meetings; possible overnight sleepovers.
