Job summary

UMB Financial Corporation is seeking a Personal Banker to build customer relationships and recommend and sell banking products and services. The role focuses on understanding customer needs, cross-selling offerings, and delivering a high-quality financial experience at the branch.

You will participate in training on UMB’s products and sales process, work with leaders for mentorship, and contribute to expanding the customer base while maintaining strong compliance and service standards.

Qualifications

• HS Diploma or equivalent required.
• Two years of retail banking sales experience or equivalent.
• Ability to obtain an NMLS registration within 90 days.
• Ability to learn products, services and procedures quickly and accurately.
• Strong math skills and problem solving within risk parameters.

Responsibilities

• Ask personalized questions to turn every customer interaction into opportunities to learn about financial goals and connect them to solutions.
• Develop and manage a loan pipeline with strong closing conversions focusing on home equity loans, lines of credit, personal loans, auto loans, and mortgage referrals.
• Create sales opportunities and grow the customer base using product knowledge through networking, conversations, and proactive sourcing.
• Learn processes such as transactions, cash drawer management, and bank documentation per industry and legal standards.
• Respond to coaching and feedback to improve sales outcomes; perform other duties as assigned.
