Qualifications

• Education/Experience substitutions allow credit for additional education or work experience.
• Master's degree requires four years of post-baccalaureate engineering experience; Bachelor's requires six years; Associate requires six years plus two years as Engineering Technician.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate permit application review with Bureaus, Federal/State agencies, municipalities, developers, consultants and utilities to issue permits efficiently.
• Review and direct changes to complex projects to ensure compliance with standards and access management principles.
• Inspect and monitor projects, coordinate construction phases and direct field changes to protect the traveling public and highway system integrity.
• Direct, train and supervise an engineering staff in evaluating plans and applying engineering principles for permits and inspections.
• Develop and defend long-range department objectives related to the permit process for public relations and goals.
• Perform research and analysis on the state highway system and maintain drainage inventory for MS4 compliance.
• Supervise record-keeping of permits, records, plans, deeds and easements for all highways and projects.
• Adhere to risk management, safety, and environmental standards and regulations.
