Job summary

The State of New Hampshire, Department of Transportation, Bureau of Materials and Research, seeks a Geotechnical Engineer Supervisor to lead a professional staff and provide geotechnical evaluations for design, construction, and maintenance of statewide civil projects.

This role requires PE licensure in NH or another state, a degree in engineering (Master's or Bachelor's with MBA), and the ability to travel statewide.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in engineering or Bachelor's in engineering with MBA.
  • One year of civil engineering work experience after PE licensure.
  • Alternative: Bachelor's in engineering with three years of civil engineering experience after PE licensure.
  • Licensure as Professional Engineer in NH or another state; Civil/Civil Highway/Geotechnical/Structural.

Responsibilities

  • Provide geotechnical engineering guidance to a staff of civil engineers.
  • Serve as the geotechnical project engineer on complex NH DOT projects.
  • Prepare geotechnical design evaluations and write technical reports.
  • Develop contract specifications for geotechnical work.
  • Coordinate with designers and other bureaus to implement geotechnical elements.
  • Review reports to ensure sound and cost-effective designs.
  • Meet with stakeholders to resolve geotechnical issues during construction.
  • Supervise staff and oversee timesheets, leave, and performance evaluations.
