Job summary

Dollar General seeks a Perishable Department Lead to manage the produce, meat, dairy, bakery and related perishable categories. You will assist the Store Manager with inventory and merchandising, ensure safe handling of food, and maintain customer service standards in a fast-paced retail environment.

The role requires coordinating with the Store Manager to optimize stock levels, train associates, and uphold company SOPs while protecting company assets and ensuring profitability.

Qualifications

• Ability to read and interpret documents such as diagrams, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedures manuals.

Responsibilities

• Assist Store Manager in ensuring the financial integrity of the store through strict cash accountability and cash control procedures.
• Follow company policies and procedures as outlined in SOPs and handbooks.
• Maintain correct perishable stock levels using Ads/Planners, Order guides and sales history.
• Train associates in merchandising, freshness, pricing standards and safe handling of food in compliance with regulations.
• Record inventory levels and perishable markdowns; analyze causes and take corrective action.
• Provide excellent customer service and address customers' needs efficiently.
