Job summary

Dollar General is seeking a Perishable Department Leader to manage the produce, meat, dairy, bakery, and related perishable areas under Store Manager supervision. You will help control inventory, maintain presentation, train staff, and uphold safety and sanitation standards across departments.

The role emphasizes cash accountability, merchandising accuracy, and customer-focused service to support store profitability and quality customer experiences.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent strongly preferred.
• One year of experience in a retail environment and six months supervisory experience preferred.
• Previous lead experience and/or grocery store experience preferred.
• Attainment of required local and state food handling certifications, if applicable.

Responsibilities

• Assist Store Manager in ensuring monetary integrity and cash control per procedures.
• Maintain correct perishable stock levels using various planning tools and order guides.
• Train associates in proper perishable presentation, freshness, and pricing standards.
• Record inventory levels and assist with customer service needs.
• Ensure sanitation standards and proper food handling training for Perishable departments.
