Job summary

Dollar General is seeking a Store Associate to manage the Perishable Departments, including produce, meat, dairy, bakery and more. You will help with inventory, pricing, and merchandising while ensuring safety and customer service standards are met.

Under Store Manager supervision, you will train associates, handle cash controls, and protect company assets. This role emphasizes accurate record-keeping and adherence to food handling rules.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent strongly preferred.
• One year of experience in a retail environment and six months supervisory experience preferred.
• Previous lead experience and/or grocery store experience preferred.
• Attainment of required local and state food handling certifications, if applicable.

Responsibilities

• Assist Store Manager with maintaining perishable stock levels based on store volume.
• Ensure cash accountability and adherence to security practices.
• Train associates in proper presentation, freshness and pricing standards.
• Record inventory levels and ensure compliance with food handling rules.
• Assist with sanitation and safety training in the Perishable departments.
• Support other operational areas as directed by the Store Manager.
