Job summary

Dollar General is seeking a dedicated individual to manage the Perishable Departments including produce, dairy, and frozen items. Under supervision, you will help optimize inventory, merchandising, and customer service while ensuring safety and compliance.

You will train associates on freshness, pricing standards, and proper food handling. This role emphasizes teamwork with the Store Manager and other departments to deliver a clean, well-stocked shopping environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent strongly preferred.
• One year of experience in a retail environment and six months supervisory experience preferred.
• Previous lead experience and/or grocery store experience preferred.
• Attainment of required local and state food handling certifications, if applicable.

Responsibilities

• Assist Store Manager with perishable department operations and inventory.
• Maintain correct perishable stock levels using department tools.
• Train associates in presentation, freshness, and pricing standards.
• Ensure compliance with sanitation standards and food handling regulations.
• Record perishable markdowns and analyze causes.
• Provide excellent customer service and address needs promptly.
• Maintain cash accountability and security practices.
• Assist with other operational areas as directed.
