Job summary

Dollar General is seeking a Store Lead to manage Perishable Departments including produce, dairy, and bakery while supporting inventory control and merchandising excellence. You will work under the Store Manager to ensure stock freshness, pricing integrity, and safety compliance in a fast-paced retail environment.

The role emphasizes staff training, adherence to food handling rules, and customer service excellence.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent strongly preferred.
One year of experience in a retail environment and six months supervisory experience preferred.
Previous lead experience and/or grocery store experience preferred.
Attainment of required local and state food handling certifications, if applicable.

Responsibilities

Assist Store Manager in ensuring the financial integrity of the store through cash accountability, key control, and cash handling procedures.
Follow company policies and procedures as outlined in SOP manual and Employee Handbook.
Maintain correct perishable stock levels based on store volume using tool guides and order plans.
Train assigned associates in proper presentation, freshness and pricing standards for all perishable areas.
Record inventory levels and assist with customer requests efficiently.
