Job summary

Dollar General is seeking a Perishable Department Lead to support the Store Manager in grocery, dairy, and bakery areas. You will help manage stock levels, price freshness, and ensure excellent customer service while safeguarding store assets.

The role requires strong organizational skills, math aptitude, and ability to train staff on safety and merchandising standards in a fast-paced retail environment.

Qualifications

• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules and procedures.
• Ability to perform basic math calculations and percentages.
• Ability to learn and operate cash register functions to generate reports.
• Knowledge of inventory management and merchandising practices.
• Good organization skills with attention to detail.
• Effective interpersonal and written communication skills.
• Willingness to obtain required food handling certifications.

Responsibilities

• Assist Store Manager in maintaining financial integrity through cash accountability and security practices.
• Follow SOPs, policies, and company communications; ensure employee compliance.
• Maintain correct perishable stock levels using tools and guides; train associates in presentation and freshness standards.
• Record inventory levels and assist in ensuring customer needs are addressed promptly.
• Support sanitation and safety training in Perishable departments; assist with other areas as directed.
