Job summary

Dollar General is seeking a Perishable Department Leader to oversee produce, meat, dairy, bakery and related perishables. You will partner with the Store Manager to maintain stock, present appealing merchandise, and ensure food safety and customer satisfaction on a daily basis.

Responsibilities include inventory control, markdown analysis, staff training in product freshness and proper handling, and adherence to company policies and loss prevention measures.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent strongly preferred.
• One year of experience in a retail environment and six months supervisory experience preferred.
• Attainment of required local and state food handling certifications, if applicable.
• Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedures manuals.
• Strong math and cash handling knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Assist Store Manager in inventory management and merchandising.
• Maintain perishable stock levels and manage related order guides.
• Train associates in proper presentation, freshness and pricing standards.
• Ensure compliance with food handling rules and safety regulations.
• Record Perishable Markdowns and analyze causes to prevent recurrences.
• Provide excellent customer service and address customers' needs efficiently.
