Job summary

Dollar General stores seek a Perishable Department Lead to manage produce, meat, dairy, bakery and frozen goods. You’ll work under the Store Manager to optimize inventory, merchandising, and customer service while maintaining safety and asset protection.

You’ll train associates on freshness, pricing, and proper handling; ensure plan-o-gram compliance, and drive efficient stock rotation and markdown analysis to minimize waste. Strong attention to detail is essential.

Qualifications

• Ability to read and interpret diagrams, safety rules, and procedures.
• Perform basic math and percentage calculations for reports.
• Learn cash register functions and generate reports accurately.
• Review statements to identify trends and opportunities.
• Maintain cash handling accuracy and deposit controls.
• Understand inventory, merchandising and stock rotation.
• Follow plan-o-gram guidance and presentation standards.
• Adhere to safety policies and procedures in all perishable areas.
• Keep certifications in food handling up to date when required.
