Job summary

Dollar General seeks a Perishable Department Lead to manage the produce, dairy, meats, bakery and related areas. You will support inventory control, pricing standards, and customer service while ensuring safety and asset protection.

You will train associates in perishable handling, stock rotation, and proper merchandising. Prior retail and supervisory experience is preferred, with required food handling certifications as applicable.

Qualifications

• Ability to read and interpret diagrams, safety rules, and procedures.
• Ability to perform basic math calculations including percentages.
• Ability to learn and operate cash registers to generate reports.
• Ability to review statements and identify sales, profitability and turn trends.

Responsibilities

• Maintain perishable stock levels based on store volume and orders.
• Train associates on presentation, freshness and pricing standards.
• Record inventory levels and manage perishable markdowns.
• Ensure compliance with sanitation standards and safety policies.
• Assist in protecting company assets and cash accountability.
• Provide excellent customer service and address needs promptly.
