Job summary

Dollar General seeks a responsible Perishable Department Lead to supervise produce, meat, dairy and bakery areas under Store Manager guidance. You will manage stock, ensure freshness, and maintain safe, compliant operations while delivering strong customer service.

You will train associates on pricing, presentation, and food-handling policies, analyze markdowns, and keep accurate inventory and sales records to support profitable store performance.

Qualifications

• Ability to read and interpret documents such as diagrams, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions.
• Experience with cash handling and inventory reporting is preferred.
• Knowledge of store operations, merchandising and customer service best practices.
• Ability to train staff and ensure compliance with food handling and sanitation requirements.

Responsibilities

• Assist Store Manager in maintaining cash accountability and security practices.
• Maintain perishable stock levels using store tools and order guides.
• Train associates on presentation, freshness and pricing standards for perishable areas.
• Record inventory levels and perishable markdowns with accuracy.
• Ensure customer needs are addressed promptly and with courtesy.
• Support other store operations as needed by the Store Manager.
