Job summary

Dollar General is seeking a Perishable Lead to supervise the Perishable Departments, manage inventory, merchandising, and customer service under the Store Manager. The role includes training staff, maintaining stock levels, and ensuring compliant food handling practices.

You will work to uphold safety standards, protect company assets, and ensure a quality shopping experience for customers in a fast-paced store environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent strongly preferred.
• One year of experience in a retail environment and six months supervisory experience preferred.
• Attainment of required local and state food handling certifications, if applicable.

Responsibilities

• Assist Store Manager in ensuring financial integrity through cash accountability and adherence to cash control procedures.
• Maintain perishable stock levels using produce, dairy, meat, and bakery merchandising tools; ensure freshness and pricing standards.
• Train associates in proper stocking, presentation, and safe handling of food in compliance with rules and regulations.
• Record perishable markdowns and analyze causes to prevent recurrences; ensure proper grading and repackaging in produce.
• Ensure customers' needs are addressed promptly and maintain sanitation standards in Perishable departments.
