Job summary

Dollar General is seeking a Perishable Department Leader in Winchester, IL to supervise produce, meats, dairy, and bakery areas under Store Manager guidance. You’ll help manage inventory, merchandising, and customer service while upholding safety and company policies.

You will train associates on freshness, quality standards, and proper food handling, ensuring stock rotation and accurate pricing to maximize store profitability and customer satisfaction.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent strongly preferred.
• One year of retail experience and six months supervisory experience preferred.
• Previous lead or grocery store experience preferred.
• Attainment of local/state food handling certifications, if applicable.

Responsibilities

• Assist Store Manager with cash accountability, key control, and security practices.
• Maintain perishable stock levels using planograms and guides.
• Train associates in proper presentation, freshness, and pricing standards.
• Record inventory levels and manage turnover to reduce waste.
• Ensure customer needs are addressed promptly and professionally.
