Job summary

Dollar General seeks an experienced perishable department lead to manage the produce, meat, dairy, bakery, and frozen sections. You will assist the Store Manager with inventory control, pricing, and customer service while ensuring compliance with safety and sanitation rules.

You will train associates in proper stocking, merchandising, and food handling practices, and monitor perishable markdowns and stock levels to maintain store performance.

Qualifications

• Ability to read and follow plan-o-gram and merchandise presentation guidance.
• Ability to perform basic math and understand financial statements.
• Ability to learn and perform cash register functions to generate reports.
• Ability to manage perishable inventory and ensure freshness and pricing standards.
• Must obtain required local/state food handling certifications if applicable.

Responsibilities

• Oversee Perishable Departments including produce, meat, dairy, bakery, and frozen foods.
• Assist Store Manager with cash accountability and security procedures.
• Maintain proper stock levels and use vendor/order guides to plan replenishments.
• Train associates on perishable presentation, freshness, and pricing standards.
• Record perishable markdowns and analyze causes to prevent recurrence.
• Ensure compliance with sanitation standards and food handling regulations.
• Provide excellent customer service and address customer needs promptly.
• Support other store operations as directed by the Store Manager.
