Job summary

Dollar General is seeking a Perishable Department Lead to manage the Produce, Fresh Meat, Packaged Meats, Dairy, Frozen Food, Bread, and bakery segments. You will oversee inventory, merchandising, safety, and customer service to uphold store standards.

You will train associates on freshness, pricing, and proper food handling, while ensuring adherence to sanitation rules and company policies. Prior experience in grocery lead roles is preferred.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of perishable stock handling and display guidelines.
• Experience in retail or grocery operations, preferably with perishables.
• Must be able to read and follow company SOPs and safety rules.

Responsibilities

• Maintain correct perishable stock levels based on store volume using available tools.
• Assist in training associates in proper presentation, freshness, and pricing standards for all perishable areas.
• Assist in training associates in safe handling of food according to regulations.
• Assist Store Manager and Assistant Store Manager with scheduling coverage.
• Record perishable markdowns and analyze causes to prevent recurrences.
• Ensure compliance with sanitation standards and supervise routine cleaning.
