Job summary

Dollar General is seeking a supervisor for the Perishable Departments to manage produce, meat, dairy, bakery, and related areas. You will support the Store Manager with inventory, merchandising, and customer service while ensuring safety and compliance with food handling rules.

The role requires supervising staff, maintaining stock levels, and training associates on presentation, freshness, and pricing standards across perishable categories.

Qualifications

• Ability to read and interpret documents such as diagrams, safety rules, operating instructions, and procedures manuals.
• Ability to perform mathematical calculations such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and percentages.
• Ability to learn and perform cash register functions to generate reports.
• Knowledge of cash handling procedures including cashier accountability and deposit control.
• Knowledge of inventory management and merchandising practices.

Responsibilities

• Assist Store Manager in ensuring the financial integrity of the store through strict cash accountability and adherence to security practices.
• Maintain correct perishable stock levels based on store volume using available tools and order guides.
• Train assigned associates in proper presentation, freshness, pricing standards, and safe handling of perishable products.
• Record Perishable Markdowns and analyze causes to prevent recurrences.
• Ensure customers' needs and requests are addressed in a timely and efficient manner.
